The Minister of Finance and European Funding of the Andalusian Government, Juan Bravo Baena, has highlighted the importance of the LIFE Comp0live project during his visit to the headquarters of Andaltec, the project’s leader. Bravo Baena is one of the top officials of the Andalusian government, and his ministry is responsible for the budgets and management of European funds in the autonomous community.
Manuela Cano, the coordinator of LIFE Comp0live, explained the objectives and progress made so far in this initiative, including the biomaterials developed to date. Bravo Baena emphasized that this international project aligns with the commitment to the circular economy that administrations are making and asked numerous questions to understand the progress of the work. He highlighted the enormous potential of this project for job creation and the valorization of olive tree pruning, a material that is abundant in the province of Jaén.
LIFE Comp0live is a project that offers numerous environmental and economic benefits, as it can provide an additional source of income for the thousands of olive farmers in Andalusia. Furthermore, the reuse of olive tree pruning avoids the current practice of burning, which results in polluting emissions into the atmosphere. The Minister of Finance also emphasized the importance of an Andalusian entity like Andaltec leading such a significant international R&D project, which involves heavyweight companies like Ford.
Juan Bravo visited the facilities where this project is being carried out at Andaltec, where he was received by the Mayor of Martos, Víctor Torres, and the manager of Andaltec, José María Navarro.
