The Minister of University, Research and Innovation, José Carlos Gómez Villamandos, has seen first-hand the new biocomposites developed from olive pruning that the project intends to put to industrial use.
The LIFE Comp0live project participated yesterday in On Industry, the largest technological event in southern Spain that has been held in Córdoba.
In its third edition, On Industry consolidates a professional event that has grown exponentially thanks to the participation of more than 50 cutting-edge companies and international reference, the registration of more than 2,000 people linked to the industry 4.0 sector and the location in the Center for Exhibitions, Fairs and Conventions of Córdoba, which allows multiplying the available space and attendance at the technical and professional conferences that take place in parallel.
The University of Jaén, a project partner, has been in charge of presenting the progress of LIFE Comp0live at the stand of the Junta de Andalucía. The researcher Mª Dolores La Rubia, has shown the latest prototypes of automobile parts and urban furniture developed within the framework of LIFE Comp0live, which have been manufactured from olive fiber, thus demonstrating the technical feasibility of using olive tree pruning as reinforcement of polymers in industrial parts of the automotive and furniture sector.
During the visit to the stand of the Junta de Andalucía, the Minister of University, Research and Innovation, José Carlos Gómez Villamandos, highlighted the great work that the researchers from Andaltec and the University of Jaén are doing in this project and learned about the biocomposites developed from olive pruning and recycled plastic within the framework of the project.
